As you may have noticed, I haven’t said much about MFS2 lately.  The reason for this was that I kept running into issues with the way I had MFS planned out in my head, and it had become messy and ugly.  I put the project aside for a little bit so that I could rethink everything for awhile.  Today I had a bit of an epiphany as to how I want MFS2 to look and work, so tonight I began development once again.  I didn’t quite start from scratch this time (I borrowed a design I had previously made and I’m using most of the MySQL database layout I had before), but I am writing the meat and potatoes of the application from the ground up.

What are some of the highlights to expect?

  • Ability to divide files into public and private categories
  • Personal public file page that can be viewed by anyone for files you specify
  • Slick interface that makes use of ajax and javascript coolness
  • Much better security than the original MFS

I have started a new SVN repository for MFS2, but I will post it once I make more progress on the project as there aren’t very many files to look at right now.
